Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a medical technique originally devised by Frenchman Dr. Michael Pistor in the 1950’s. His early treatments focused on sports injuries, rheumatology, infectious diseases and vascular diseases. Today mesotherapy is most commonly used for musculo-skeletal conditions and in aesthetic medicine. Small amounts of homeopathically attenuated medicines are injected below the surface of the skin, both in the focal area of treatment and into relevant acupuncture points. The medicines encourage tissue repair and regeneration. Thus the treatment is targeted to both systemic and local problem areas. Whether in pain management or aesthetic medicine mesotherapy offers a safe and effective alternative to other more hazardous treatments.

There are generally no adverse effects to mesotherapy treatment. At worst, mild stinging might be felt at the injection site for some minutes, and occasionally some bruising can occur. As with any injection, there is a very small risk of infection, but this has not occurred in this practice.

Injections of the homeopathically attenuated medicines are also an effective addition to other treatments – for example, the stimulation of liver detoxification following other consultations.

Injections for pain management can be effective for:

  • sports injuries
  • frozen shoulder
  • arthritic conditions of the hands and feet
  • fibtomyalgia
  • any other nerve, joint, and muscle pain

The number of injections required is dependent on whether the condition is chronic or acute. In acute conditions 1 – 3 injections might be sufficient. If the condition is of many years duration, it might be necessary to have 8 – 10 injections with monthly follow-ups. A typical treatment takes between 20 – 40 minutes.

Homeopathically formulated medicines for aesthetic treatments are designed for repair, regeneration and tonification of tissues. Many aesthetic problems are a result of loss of structure and function in tissues. The medicines are formulated to stimulate, for example, own self collagen. The health of tissues is improved along with the appearance. Face bio-lifting is one of the most common applications of mesotherapy. Other conditions that can be helped by mesotherapy include:

  • alopecia
  • adiposity – localised fat deposits
  • cellulite – due to insufficient blood and lymphatic circulation
  • loss of skin tone and slackening
  • stretch marks
  • acne
  • skin hyperpigmentation
  • wrinkles

The results of all mesotherapy treatments are improved by oral home therapy. Particularly for aesthetic treatments, drainage and detoxification is essential to retain the results of treatment.

Always drink sufficient water to rehydrate tissues.
